Dream Love Paint

I have been a fan of Dreama Tolle Perry's for quite some time and was excited that she offered an e course called Dream Love Paint, I have been enjoying her inspiring messages as well as her tutorials. There is so much to the course other than just painting instruction.  there's meditations, journaling, one to ones and much more.  Fortunately I have a year to access the content.  I hope she does another one someday, I know it was a tremendous undertaking for her.  Dreama is a genius at color and a true impressionist.  Here are a few of my paintings from the course.

Balance and New paintings

I have been struggling with finding time for painting and the rest of my life, or shall I say finding time for anything other than painting.  I am sure this is common for anyone with a passion.  My husband says I have been balancing just fine and I am over analyzing it.  To become good at painting you have to spend hours and hours and hours at the easel and learning, taking workshops. Then there is the business side of selling my work.  How much effort do I really want to spend marketing and putting myself out there?  I seem to have a nice little following on Etsy and daily paintworks and have little time or inventory to go out and do shows and join art organizations.  I think for now I am happy with the way things are going. I have finally been painting for my own house lately too. Here are a few of my recent paintings, they can be purchased through my ETSY shop or the Daily Paintworks gallery.

Welcome 2016!!!

I have been so busy with commissions, and the holidays I haven't posted in awhile, I still struggle with managing the different avenues of marketing my work, but I had a great year last year so I guess it works..  It has been exciting to look back on my journey and see my work improve little by little every day.  The hours and hours in front of the Easel are starting to pay off, I hope to continue improving and learning this year.  I am working on a very large commission that is tedious and arduous, unlike my normal loose style, so in between layers I have been able to do a few fun paintings that are available through the daily paintworks gallery or my etsy shop :

New Paintings

I took a break from my blue and white obsession to gloriously paint a beautiful sunflower bouquet in artmy red Tuscan urn.  I've had some nice comments on it, fits in with a lot of decor schemes. Available through daily paintworks, my etsy shop, or directly from my website, kimpetersonart.com

I also did my second container garden painting in blue, white and yellow, lemons, sunflowers, blue hydrangeas, so fun but a challenge because it is a larger piece, 28 X 24" , also available to purchase through my etsy shop, daily paintworks, or kimpetersonart.com

Happy Fourth of July!!!

I painted these geraniums in a blue and white vase on a small 6 x 6" linen panel in honor of the Fourth of July.  I needed to be able to get my painting fix in during a busy weekend of family fun.  I love how the small square paintings look in floater frames.   I photographed it in the frame it so my etsy clients can see for reference.  I am starting to connect with other artists through Instagram, Daily Paintworks  and Facebook and it is reassuring and supportive.

SUNFLOWER BOUQUET

I am pleased with my new painting, its larger than I am used to but I love the impact of larger paintings even though they are much more difficult and time consuming.  I study with Nancy Medina.  I have attended her workshops and own her DVDs and I have improved so much with her techniques.  This painting is a very "Nancy" Style painting, but hopefully with my own style that seems to be in a constant state of evolution.  I like taking different classes and workshops and studying different techniques, experimenting, practicing  and bringing a little bit of them into my work, but want my own signature "look".

I am also still struggling with photography, cant get the settings right on my Nikon, I take most of my photos with my Iphone and they are decent but not great resolution.

Back In The Studio

I have been traveling and its nice to be back in the studio.  I have been inspired by
My journey through Rome, Tuscany, and Paris, and look forward to creating paintings from my travels.  In the meantime I had to get back to my still life painting and was inspired as always by my favorite blog, The Enchanted Home.  I was pleased to hear that Tina liked my painting and it cheered her up after the loss of her mother in law last week.  I am so new to all of this social media stuff, but I know I have to do it and it's been fun finding my way, I am especially fond of Instagram, I am meeting new friends and exploring so many beautiful inspiring people, places and things in the world!

Pink Hydrangeas

I found these potted pink hydrangeas this week and was surprised to see them this time of year so I had to buy them and paint them, I did two studies them the final painting, My husband doesn't give out compliments about my paintings unless he really means it, which I love, I don't need his approval but knowing he likes it is an added bonus!! still struggling with photographing my work, it just doesn't do anyone's art true justice no matter how great the photography is.
