Its our imperfections that make us pretty

I painted these beautiful multicolored roses this weekend and I don't know why I keep challenging myself with such a difficult flower to paint, I wrote on my instagram and facebook posts that maybe someday I will master them, but in the meantime it is our differences that make us pretty, the imperfections in art and life are truth.  Beauty is truth.  Im glad I don't have many readers yet, as both my blogging and painting are very imperfect!!

Sunday Sunflowers

I was happy to get back to painting sunflowers today.  They are one of my favorite flowers, so cheerful, colorful and happy! I like to paint them in layers, letting the transparent layers show through and let them stay pretty loose rather than paint them meticulously, I don't have the patience to paint every petal and I tend to overwork my paintings.  I am trying to learn to give myself a time limit and let it go.  I love the combination of the yellow flowers with the blue and white vase.

Feeling French Country!!!

I haven't been doing well at setting up my blog layout, but I am happy with my latest painting, and wanted to share it here! I painted these yellow roses in my new little French country style pitcher, I love all of these colors together, before my blue and white phase with my decorating I was very into yellow, my paintings were very reflective of that.  My daughter Christina would tell me I needed to use more blue in my paintings, and she was right, now I am definitely in my blue period but it's all about color harmony and balance.

Blue and White Monday!!

I am obsessed with blue and white  and I love painting fresh flowers in my different blue and white vases.  One of my favorite home decor blogs is The Enchanted Home, I get some many decorating ideas and love her posts.  I think she does a Blue and white Monday once in awhile so I thought I would post my latest little blue and white painting.

Happy New Year!!

One of My New Year's resolutions is to work on my marketing and my blog, so bear with me as I learn how to do this!!  I am looking forward to 2015, 2014 was a busy year for me, I moved into a new home that needed a lot of rennovating and work, as well as planning my first daughter's wedding!! it was an exciting, very blessed happy time for our family, but my painting took a backseat.  I'm looking forward to learning and growing as an artist.  I am looking forward to working on my wedding paintings,  I did some awhile ago but I have improved a lot, just in time to do my daughters "wedding suite" for Christmas, she was very touched and even cried when she opened her gift, she wouldn't want me to post the photo of her in her christmas Jammie's and no makeup, but I am happy to share a collage of what I did:
